Milan is known for being one of the capitals of fashion and this fame is mainly due to the so-called quadrilateral, a set of central streets where ateliers and textile production houses have sprung up and which successfully carry on the tradition all over the world. In addition to fashion, this area of the Milanese capital is full of charming places, one of these is the Parini 1915 grocery store, in via Borgospesso 1.
A historical place
The Parini 1915 grocery store celebrated its centenary two years ago, but thanks to the modernization and redevelopment that took place shortly before its historic anniversary, it doesn’t look its age. A wise and cautious work has been able to maintain the historic atmosphere of a place that has seen the city of Milan change for many seasons, while winking at the news of the food world and new culinary traditions.
The Michelin-starred chef Marco Parizzi took over the direction of this change, who wanted to create a blend of cuisines and stories, developing a menu capable of bringing together traditional dishes of Milanese cuisine, such as risotto and ossobuco, with more exotic like sushi. What could have been a gamble turned out to be a winning bet.
A prestigious structure
The Parini 1915 grocery is located in the area below the beautiful church of San Francesco di Paola. This location with a sacred atmosphere gives the place an even more intriguing quid. The renovation has not affected its essence in the slightest and when you enter it it seems to immerse yourself in a magical cave, with exposed bricks, marble stairs and soft lights.
The structure consists of 600 square meters, divided into three different areas. The table service area, where you can sit down to enjoy your meal, the take away area, where you can order a tasty delicacy ready to be consumed on your sofa or in the office and the area dedicated to more particular foods and drinks and at tastings. In addition to this there is an area where you can buy valuable raw materials and thick wines.
